SWATCH PRIME LINE IS READY FOR SOME BIG ACTION
The action sport festival Munich Mash has got off to a flying start! Great weather gathered the crowds in the Olympic Park for the qualifying of this weekend’s main mountain bike event - Swatch Prime Line. During today’s qualifying, 24 invited athletes laid it all on the line on the giant slopestyle course for a spot in Saturday’s finals. Swatch Proteam athlete Sam Pilgrim, found the time between practice to show us what this epic course at Munich’s Olympic Park looks like: www.swatchtv.com. Anyone unable to attend the contest live and witness the scale of the action can tune in live for the webcast on www.swatch.com/primeline.
FMB Diamond series leader Brett Rheeder (CAN) earned himself a top spot in today’s qualifying with a smooth run, closely followed by shooting star Nicholi Rogatkin (USA). Rogatkin also gave the crowds a taste of the best tricks with a massive triple tailwhip. Sitting in third position is the Belgian trickster with an itch for the FMB world title, Thomas Genon. The Belgian will have to step it up in order to jump ahead of the North Americans. Filling in the top 5 are two more Canadians, Logan Peat and Paul Genovese. Swatch Proteam athlete, Sam Pilgrim goes through to the finals tomorrow, qualifying 8th and local German favorite, Amir Kabbani can also look forward to the crowds support on Saturday. Together with the other qualified athletes they go to the finals on Saturday, June 27th from 04:45 pm (CEST) where they will compete for valuable FMB Diamond Series points. The starting list for the finals will be the qualifying results in reverse order. So Anton Thelander from Sweden will kick off the action at Swatch Prime Line. Brett Rheeder will have the advantage of seeing what his rivals have thrown down before sending it himself. The format: 2 runs, after the second, the top 6 riders will proceed to super finals for another shot at the title. How big will they go? The super finals will lay it all on the line!
