STREET LEAGUE SKATEBOARDING

STREET LEAGUE SKATEBOARDING

Cool vibes and an electric atmosphere were the name of the game at the Olympic Ice Stadium as the world’s best street skateboarders gathered in Munich for the second time to battle it out at the first stop of the Street League Skateboarding (SLS) World Tour. As with all other SLS World Tour events the skaters taking part were competing not only for fame and victory at MASH but also for valuable points for the overall standings. The best of the best at the end of the season are invited to the SLS Nike SB Super Crown World Championship in Los Angeles.

In Munich it was Nyjah Huston (USA) who came out on top. However, the veteran skater from the US was pushed all the way by SLS Rookie Yuto Horigome (JPN), who had only qualified for the SLS World Tour a few weeks earlier in Barcelona. In the end Huston came out on top to claim his second win of the season and his 18th career win, while Horigome finished second and Carlos Ribeiro (BRA) rounded out the podium in third.

WAKEBOARD RAIL & AIR

A huge crowd of 20,000 enthusiastic fans lined the shores of the Olympic Lake on Sunday to witness newcomer Guenther Oka take out the win with an impressive performance at the WAKEBOARD RAIL & AIR by MASH. However, the 19-year-old American didn’t have things all his own way and had to battle hard for the win against a strong field of riders. “Even in the heats the level tricks was just crazy, and things got even closer in the Superfinal. I am really happy to have won,” explained Oka. Local hero Felix Georgii from the Allgäu region of Germany also had plenty of reasons to celebrate after winning the Best Trick Contest with a Switch Onefooted Mute 540. “For me MASH is the biggest contest of the year with a perfect set-up. I knew right from the start that it would be a great event. The atmosphere here at the Olympic Lake and the huge crowds of fans cheering us on make this contest unique,” said the 24-year-old.
