MASH FEST

The MASH Fest was the heart of the event! Here, sport, culture and urban lifestyle came together to create a wonderful festival experience. There was plenty to discover as you made your way around the festival site. Visitors could get active themselves, whether at the skate and BMX area on Hans-Jochen-Vogel-Square with various workshops, in the Active Area run by the City of Munich’s Department of Education and Sport on the peninsula, at the 3x3 basketball court on Hans-Jochen-Vogel-Platz/Ehrenhain, or on the mini ramp at MASH Square. There were also numerous workshops on everything from graffiti to screen printing, and from dance to yoga. And last but not least, various exhibitors from the scene invited visitors to browse and shop.

The MASH Fest was colourful and diverse. It was a meeting place for everyone and accessible to all. Driven by this spirit of inclusion, there were various initiatives on offer this year focused on participation. For example, the Sensory Bag lending service was designed to help people with cognitive impairments or mental health conditions in particular to make their visit more pleasant and accessible in what can often be a sensory-overloading atmosphere. In addition, there was an accessible wayfinding system, a quiet room, designated spaces for people with disabilities at the various set-ups, and an e-scooter hire service for visitors with mobility impairments.

A particular highlight was the WCMX (Wheelchair Motocross) demonstration. Athletes in specially adapted wheelchairs performed spectacular tricks on skate ramps and in skateparks, and visitors were even able to have a go themselves.
