Day 1 at MASH
The wakeboarders were, of course, the ones who found the best way to cool off from the midsummer heat on the first day of MASH. In the evening, they competed in their first event, the Best Trick on the MASH kicker – currently the largest kicker in existence.Spectators at the Olympiasee were treated to a top-class competition in which the athletes gave it their all and pulled off their best tricks. In the women’s event, the American Rivers Hedrick ultimately took the win with a Nosegrab FS 360 to Stalefish BS 180. In the men’s event, last year’s Wakeboard Finals champion Trent Stuckey (USA) won the Best Trick contest with a Double KGB Indy.
Earlier in the afternoon, during the MASH Vert Jam, two wildcards were awarded for Saturday’s star-studded skate final. The first went to the 12-year-old young gun Ollie Westendorp (NED) for his McTwist, Caballerial and huge backside airs from the roll-in. With backside nosegrinds, backside tailslides, lipslides and massive airs, German transition legend and national Park Skateboarding coach Jürgen Horrwarth (born in 1977) secured the second wildcard.
