Day 2 at MASH
Despite a brief interruption due to a thunderstorm, 38,000 visitors experienced a phenomenal MASH Saturday. They saw action sport at its very best and enjoyed the unique atmosphere of the Olympic Park event.
The Stuckey brothers (USA) once again showed off their skills in the wakeboard contest elimination. Both Gavin and Trent topped the rankings in their respective heats. Last year's winner Pedro Caldas (BRA) and Brits Joe Battelday , Rudy Talboys and Liam Peacock also qualified for the men's final on Sunday. Things didn't go so well for the German wakeboarders, with Nico von Lerchenfeld, Nils Ritzmann and Felix Georgii all dropping out in the elimination round. Katinka Buiting (NED), Claudia Pagnini (ITA), Campbell Scarborough (USA), Rivers Hedrick (USA), Julia Rick (GER) and Lisa Baloo (ISR) will be competing in the women's wakeboarding final on Sunday.
The riders delivered a spectacular elimination in the BMX Spine Samsung Galaxy Flip Zone. Tom Justice (GBR), Jacob Thiem (USA), Luis Rincon Reyes (COL), Dean Florian (GER), Nick Bruce (USA), Kaine Mitchell (GBR), Shaun Gornall (GBR) and Jason Watts (AUS) qualified for the final on Sunday with only a small points gap between them. Germany's Paul Thölen and Lenox Zimmermann unfortunately missed out on the final. Nick Bruce won the best trick contest on Saturday with a flair windshield wiper.
The final of the Red Bull Pool Drop provided skate highlights at the highest level! After a brilliant qualification on Friday, the skate elite who had travelled to the event were hungry for more on Saturday and delivered a great performance on the floating track. The women opened the final of Red Bull Pool Drop 2024 with a win for Japan's Miyu Ito, who had already dominated the field in Friday's qualification. With a score of 80.66 points, she overtook her fellow riders Roos Zwetsloot (NED) and Lore Bruggemann (BEL), who secured second and third place with 69.00 and 48.66 points respectively. The trophy also went to Japan in the men's final. With an almost perfect first run and 90.33 points, Kairi Netsuke beat off the competition. Second place went to Angelo Caro from Peru with a score of 85.33, followed by Dashawn Jordan (USA) with 83.66 points.
As at last year's premiere, the atmosphere at the street dance contest was on point and the Theatron at the Olympic Lake was packed to the last seat. Franky Dee won the International All Style Mixed 7-to-smoke, while the International Breaking 2vs2 Mixed format was won by Lil Zoo and Nord Diamond.
