Day 3 at MASH
There can only be one… And at the Vert event at the Olympic Lake, it was the American Collin Graham who clinched victory in the Best Trick Contest – on his very last attempt. It could hardly have been more thrilling, as up until then Viktor Solmunde (DEN) and Gustavo Fujikawa (BRA) in particular had been in the thick of it. But then came Collin, and the runner-up in Saturday’s skate final clinched the title at the very last moment with a fakie heelflip 540. The crowd favourite and winner of everyone’s hearts, however, was undoubtedly the 12-year-old Dutchman Olli Westendrop, who had already secured a wildcard for the skateboarding competitions at MASH during Friday’s Vert Jam.
Run after run, the BMX riders pushed each other to new heights in their final on the jump line at Hans-Jochen-Vogel-Sqaure. But it was Juan Caicedo’s day. He clinched victory with a score of 93.00 in his third run. The 24-year-old Colombian went all out, pulling off tricks that the other competitors couldn’t match in terms of difficulty, variety and execution. And not just in the final. Immediately afterwards, he also clinched victory in the Best Trick competition with a frontflip triple barspin. Second place in the BMX final went to Britain’s Kaine Mitchell (89.66 points), whilst the young German BMX rider Lars Kindermann took the bronze medal with a score of 88.33. Ivan Galdames finished in fourth place. The Best Trick title in the mountain bike category was won by the Swede Alex Alanko with a backflip quad barspin.
It was neither Trent nor Gavin Stuckey – who had taken turns winning the title over the past two years – but Liam Peacock who clinched the gold medal at the high-class wakeboarding final at MASH 2026. As the Briton himself put it, this victory was the most important of his career. In his third run, he scored 87.33 points, which was enough to relegate all the other competitors to lower places. Close behind, with a score of 86.00, the Brazilian Pedro Caldas finished second. Third and fourth places went to the Stuckey brothers, Gavin (82.00 points) and Trent (80.66 points). The German Nico von Lerchenfeld finished fifth in the final, whilst last year’s third-placed finisher, the Briton Joe Battelday, came sixth.
